Small Study Break, Big Impact
To give the summer semester a fitting send-off and support our fellow students with some extra motivation during the final stretch of exam preparation, we were delighted to take part in the “Long Night of Studying” at the Beitz Library for the very first time. At our stand near the entrance, students from a wide range of degree programs not only took the opportunity to register as potential stem cell donors, but also joined us for many interesting conversations during their well-deserved study breaks. We talked about the different ways to donate, contact between donors and recipients, and much more. A Beer Against Blood Cancer
Under the motto “A Beer Against Blood Cancer,” we took over the STRAZE beer garden on a beautiful summer evening. Alongside great conversations, plenty of people eager to register as potential stem cell donors, and good music, there was freshly tapped beer, delicious Fritz-Kola lemonades, and even Aperol on tap. We Campus Heroes have now officially approved the beer garden and can wholeheartedly recommend a visit — open every sunny summer day from Tuesday to Sunday, 6 to 10 p.m.
Dies Academicus – Courtyard Festival in Beautiful Sunshine
At the end of June, we had another wonderful event to look forward to: Dies Academicus, a courtyard festival at Ernst-Lohmeyer-Platz where a wide variety of clubs, groups, and initiatives had the chance to connect with students, accompanied by live music from the University of Greifswald Orchestra. Together with Blood Donation Greifswald, we shared a stand and had many great conversations, registered new potential stem cell donors, and enjoyed the festival in beautiful summer weather. We’re already looking forward to next year!
On Rounds at the Teddy Bear Hospital 🧸🩺✨
Once again this year, we were delighted to be part of the Teddy Bear Hospital!Together with the children, we explored the topic of stem cell donation in a fun and playful way. At our stand, the children could “heal” Teddy Henry with a stem cell donation in a little game, take home stickers and coloring pages, and learn a little about blood cancer and stem cell donation along the way.At the same time, we had the opportunity to talk with parents and provide information about stem cell donation and donor registration.Of course, our mascot Bob didn’t want to miss out on the Teddy Bear Hospital either and took a little tour through the different stations.A big thank you to the Teddy Bear Hospital team for having us again this year!
Double Victory at the Volksstadion: A Successful Campaign Day with the Vorpommern Vandals!
To wrap up a highly successful month of May, we were invited to set up a registration booth at the Vorpommern Vandals’ football game against the Potsdam Royals II. Alongside a successful day of sports—where the Vandals celebrated a well-deserved victory—there were also plenty of reasons to celebrate off the field. A total of 330 spectators visited the stadium and took the opportunity to learn about stem cell donation. We were particularly delighted to record numerous new registrations of potential stem cell donors at our booth. Every single registration means an additional chance for patients worldwide who rely on a life-saving stem cell donation. We were absolutely thrilled that not only did the mascot Olaf hang out at our booth, but several players themselves signed up as potential stem cell donors. Dancing for a Good Cause: Hitting the 1,000th Registration Milestone at Rave Against Blood Cancer!
For the second time, it was time to Rave Against Blood Cancer! Once again, the C9 venue was transformed into a dance floor for a good cause, bringing together people who wanted to party while doing good. Providing the perfect soundtrack were our amazing DJs—DJ Hoang, DJill, and V.L.S.—who turned the evening into a true highlight with their sets. We would like to send a special thank you to all three of them for donating 100% of their performance fees to our cause. This level of dedication is truly exceptional and contributed significantly to the success of our party. Students Saving Lives – Registration Drive at Humboldt-Gymnasium
On March 10, 2026, we visited the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium in Greifswald for our second school event of the year. Throughout the day, the 11th graders went through various stations where we taught them all about leukemia and stem cell donation. We were stoked to see both students and teachers getting involved so enthusiastically and asking great questions. Once they had all the facts, 21 people signed up as potential stem cell donors. We’re looking forward to many more events in the summer semester and hope you all have a relaxing break!
Back to school – with the Campus Heroes!
On February 5, 2026, we headed back to high school for a project that’s become a real favorite of ours: our school outreach program! This time, we visited the 11th graders at Jahn-Gymnasium Greifswald to talk about some seriously important topics: leukemia and how life-saving stem cell donations work. We teamed up with the guys from Blutspende Greifswald, AG EH-MED, AG Aufklärung Organspende, and the Land|Rettung M-V crew to put together a full Health Day. The students moved through different stations in small groups, and we gave them a quick presentation at each one. Afterward, they got to test what they’d learned in a quiz. The best part? They had the chance to sign up as potential stem cell donors right then and there. 22 students decided to go for it and have now officially started the search for their genetic twin! When Christmas Saves Lives: 96 New Stem Cell Donors
Under the motto “Give Christmas the Chance to Save a Life”, an incredible 96 students registered as stem cell donors this year, showing that the true spirit of Christmas lies in giving, compassion, and helping others. Every single registration represents hope – and could one day mean a second chance at life for someone affected by blood cancer. During the midday hours, the Beitzplatz cafeteria was filled with a special sense of warmth and togetherness. Soft Christmas music, the smell of freshly baked cookies, and small gifts created a festive atmosphere that invited students to pause between lectures and daily routines. Many took the time to learn more about stem cell donation, ask questions, and make a conscious decision to help. This campaign made it clear what Christmas is truly about: standing together, taking responsibility, and sharing hope. Freshers’ Week 2025: Campus Heroes in the Middle of It All
During Freshers’ Week 2025, the Campus Heroes were present at many locations – on campus, in lecture halls, and at events around the city. Our goal was to get to know new students, raise awareness of our work, and provide easy access to information about stem cell donation. We took part in several local project breakfasts, presentations across different study programs, the AStA’s Markt der Möglichkeiten, and the Medical Students’ Council city rally. Supported by stickers, flyers, new postcards, as well as our new roll-up banner and beach flag, we were highly visible and easy to approach. A key part of all activities was the opportunity to register as a stem cell donor. Over the course of the week, we were able to register 62 new stem cell donors.
